TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Ashley Moody today released the following statement on Governor Ron DeSantis’ selection of Judge Laurel Lee to serve as Florida’s next Secretary of State:

“I applaud Governor Ron DeSantis’ appointment of Judge Laurel Lee as Florida’s Secretary of State. Judge Lee’s almost two decades of legal experience, including five years as a Circuit Court Judge, make her uniquely qualified to manage Florida’s elections system.

“We served together as judges in the 13th Judicial Circuit and have known each other since we attended the University of Florida together. I have full confidence Judge Lee will serve the state of Florida honorably as the next Secretary of State.”
